Behavior-responsibilities
Characteristics-respect, discipline, integrity,
patriotism, and loyalty
Dynamics-have respect and utilize followership
Enthusiasm and Flexibility
**Two factors that influence leadership are the UNIT and the MISSION**
The NCO’s jobs:
-conducts routine business within orders and CAP policies
-focuses on individual training the enable unit to complete job
-trains individual cadets
-develops officers and NCO’s
-completes job
The Officer’s jobs:
-commands and establishes policies
-unit training
-mainly concerned about operations, training, and related activities
-pays attention to standards of performance
-set conditions for NCO to complete job
The NCO as a supervisor:
supervising-directing, inspecting, and evaluating others
-must look at abilities, training, and experience of everyone
Factors of supervising:
-ability to understand duties
-ability to state directives clearly and concisely
-training and experience with your cadets on the job
-training and experience with your assigned job or activity
-cadet’s discipline
-your knowledge of your cadets
Put the right People to the right job
-interview

-apply appropriate abilities
-homogeneous assignment
Stimulate will to work
-show enthusiasm, sincerity, and importance
-make everyone welcome
Increasing the ability to produce
-TRAIN through instructions, conferences, seminars, re-affirm proficiency,
teach new skills
Increasing the availability to work
-check attendance
-know the people in your flight
-avoid shifting duties
Using individuals fully on essential tasks
-fully means no slack or free time
-essential mean what necessary to the mission of the organization
-individuals need to be busy and grow
-don’t make cadets frustrated, anxious, or stressed
Scheduling subordinate tasks efficiently
-be where you are needed
-span of control -how many people can you supervise at once
-delegation of authority-holding other people accountable to see
the job gets done

Listening
-hearing-being aware of sounds
-listening-attending, comprehending and remember
Getting ready to listen
-think about common core of experience
Taking responsibility to comprehend
-leads to good manners
-think about your own experience
-rephrase in your minds
-attending- be mentally alert
-no physical distractions
-helps with verbal and nonverbal
Comprehending: understand what is said
-receptive-you understand literal meaning
-reflective-catch full meaning
-check with “I” messages
Withhold judgement
-get all facts and be fair
-listen to understand rather than to argue

Counseling: counsel to develop potential, help
make decisions, resolve problems, improve efficiency
