Leapfest:
RIWG once again volunteered their services at the twenty-third
annual Leapfest. The Leapfest competition consists of teams
from around the world. Each team has four jumpers who must
quickly exit the CH-47 Chinook and race to a target on the
ground. The team with the shortest time to reach the target
then wins the international competition.
Throughout the competition, Civil Air Patrol members from
across the state were more than eager to help in a variety
of areas. CAP Cadets participated in everything from assisting
in the CH-47 Chinooks, to working with the military police
on ground control. Both Senior Members and Cadets alike were
recognized by numerous military personnel during the event.
CAP cadets helped out in such a way, that many were personally
thanked by both jumpers and support crews. One personnel even
commented that the CAP cadets were, “some of the most
motivated people he’s ever seen in a uniform”.

Along with the assistance that CAP offered, cadets and senior
members were grateful for the unique experience of being up
close and personal with aircrew and craft. The day was completed
with a thank you from both our Wing Commander and Vice Wing
Commander who were very proud to have RIWG make such a positive
impression on the armed services both nationally and internationally.
